The coronavirus pandemic is spreading. The measures taken by the State are one of the strictest of the others, however the cases are increasing exponentially, so we are one step closer to the universal blockade throughout the country.
Greece in the first wave of the pandemic became an example to be followed around the world. The main news agencies praised the Greek government’s response to the pandemic and, of course, the response of the Greek people, who are committed to victory over the invisible enemy. showed responsibility by nearly eliminating the cases.
However, things changed and any attempt to return to normal was forgotten immediately after the summer when the cases had exceeded spring levels. Then it became clear that we have to reintroduce restrictive measures into our daily lives.
The increase in the epidemiological burden of the country, however, was combined with the disobedience of many citizens who showed, whether they believed in the coronavirus or not, prioritizing their social life. despite precautions against transmission. This fact, together with the assumption that the government underestimated the severity of the second wave, led the country to count even more than 3,000 cases per day and the health system to be under more pressure than ever.
So the question is reasonable? What changed; Why did we come here today?
Sotiris Tsiodras is no longer as convincing as at first, nor is Nikos Hardalias, who may have surprised some of them with the strict tone of his voice, while the political controversy left behind by the brevity of Spring made a lot of people think “come on baby” …
This is not an arbitrary conclusion as reflected in research he published. The British Guardian newspaper, which ranked us second in the world behind Nigeria in the percentage of the population that does not believe in the number of deaths from coronavirus.
In particular, according to official figures, the coronavirus is responsible for the death of more than 1.1 million people, but one of the most widespread conspiracy theories in recent months claims that this number is … inflated. This is exactly what, according to the survey, 46% of Greeks believe.
The first place, with the most skeptical, is occupied by Nigeria, with a negative death rate from viruses reaching 59%. Nigeria and Greece are followed by South Africa, Mexico and the US., where respondents are skeptical about the death toll published by the authorities.
On the other hand, there is the Economy. From the beginning, it was reported that the government wanted and was trying to handle the pandemic with respect for the economy. The pressures are many. the artists they cried for their art. THE Attention and the funnyTimeless liquidity providers in Athens and the region were irreparably affected, while Retail doomed to inaction.
Our pockets put as much pressure on us as the pandemic did, and that may have played a role.
The differences between the two confinements (so far)
On March 13, 2020, when the first quarantine began, there was a very high degree of obedience, patience and understanding to the restrictive measures due to the “fear” of China and the million victims in Italy and other European countries. Now, beyond the tiredness of the citizens and the relief of emotions there is no such wonder on the outside.
The March “lockdown” period began when there were only 190 cases in total. Now the new quarantine is carried out with an extremely large number of cases of the order of 50,000 and about 3,000 every day. The dead reach even 50 every day.
In the first quarantine There has been a significant adjustment of restrictive measures by young people, mainly in the 18-24 age group. But after the restrictions were lifted in May, a significant portion of these age groups began to show “disobedience” and a reaction to health precautions.
And the blockade itself is not the same as in March. Many businesses remain open while some levels of education were left open (until Friday 11/13) because experience so far has shown that schools are not a hotbed of over-transmission.
