Which schools will not open tomorrow – The announcement of the Ministry of Education

The first bell will not ring in all schools until tomorrow, Monday, after the Ministry of Education announced that in certain areas they will not open.

The ministry made this decision following the latest coronavirus detection results, as well as on the basis of protocols for suspected or confirmed cases in schools. Thus, for reasons of precaution to protect public health:

From the 9/14 to 9/16 schools will be closed in

  • Lesbos peripheral unit and
  • Pella peripheral unit

They will also stay 9/14 to 9/18 the following schools will be closed

  • Kallithea Lemnos Special Education Primary School of the Lemnos Regional Unit
  • Kindergarten of Special Education Kallithea Lemnos of the Regional Unit of Lemnos and
  • 7th Alexandria Imathia Primary School of Imathia Regional Unit.

In the previous hours, there was confusion with the Lesbos and Pella schools. Initially, the mayors of the Pella regional unit announced that schools in the area will remain closed until Wednesday, but the Regional Directorate announced that this is not the case.

Following the decision of the mayors of Mytilene and West Lesbos to keep schools closed, Interior Minister Takis Theodorikakos clarified that this is only decided by the Ministers of Education and Health, following a suggestion from the expert committee. Finally, today the corresponding official statement was issued by the Ministry of Education.

At 8:15 the students at school

The Ministry of Education recalled that students must arrive at schools at 08:15 a.m. on Monday and will remain, until consecration, according to the planning of each school.

The program of the first day includes:

  • Explanation and discussion of all protection and prevention measures based on the relevant EODY instructions
  • Individual mask and container / hermit crab distribution per student
  • Distribution of new books for the school year per student
  • Update on the schedule of the week.
