The seasonal tents open from Monday, with a view to Christmas.

As highlighted, the Secretary General of Commerce and Consumer Protection, Panagiotis Stampoulidis, from Monday (7/12) to Friday (8/1) will be able to operate four Numerical Activity Codes (KAD), which refer to the sale of Christmas trees and other seasonal species.

These are companies that include the following activities:

  • Retail sale of lighting fixtures of a kind used in Christmas trees with KAD / 47.59.56.16
  • Retail Imitation Christmas Trees with KAD / 47.65.67.02
  • Retail of general holiday items with KAD / 47.65.67.06
  • Retail trade of festive, carnival and other entertainment articles, etc. with KAD / 47.65.67.07

Their hours of operation will be from 7:00 to 20:30 and the SMS code that citizens must send to 13033, in the middle of a confinement, is the 2.

It should be noted that the sale of these seasonal products will now be allowed in supermarkets.

Mr. Stampoulidis emphasized that companies that have the specific KAD as a secondary are prohibited from selling these products. It is also not allowed to change data on the primary CAD through the tax administration, during the validity of the measures against covid-19.

Finally, regarding the number of customers allowed inside the stores, in the context of stopping the coronavirus pandemic, it provides:

  • Ratio of people per m2: 4/100
  • More than 100 square meters. one person for every 15 square meters.
  • Mandatory use of a protective mask by work personnel and clients.
  • Maintaining a distance of two meters between people.
  • It is recommended not to use elevators. If its use is considered necessary, the fullness must be of the order of 40%.
  • In the case of escalators, the use of an elevator is not allowed except for the disabled, the elderly or for catering use.

Bad example

Meanwhile, discussions continue about whether it will be possible to open retail even a few days before Christmas, at a time when the data so far on the spread of the epidemic in Greece, as well as the pipelines, does not allow much optimism.

After all, the scenes that unfolded in London on Saturday show that there is the possibility, even an opening of a few days, of serious consequences.

Outside the famous Harrods department store in London on Saturday (12/5), an incredible crowd was created with thousands of Brits literally on top of each other.

The people who gathered to buy did not observe the sanitary measures, since, apart from the non-observance of distances, almost no one wore a mask.

Images of the “health bomb” have been circulating on the Internet, creating a storm of reactions as we ride through the second wave of the deadly pandemic.

The police forces had gone to the scene and tried to impose order, without much success.
