The Sanofi company will ensure that a possible Covid-19 disease vaccine, once approved, reaches all regions of the world at the same time, the president of the French pharmaceutical industry promised tonight.
“There will be no particular preference for any country,” said Serge Weinberg on France 2 television. “We are organized with many production units.” Some of them are in the United States, but even more are in Europe and France, “he said.
Sanofi has 73 units in 32 countries. As of yet, there is no approved vaccine for Covid-19 disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
Paul Hudson, the company’s chief executive, previously said it was vital that the vaccine could reach every corner of the world, as it had previously angered the French government when it said it would prioritize the United States.
“Our CEO’s comments have been falsified. We consider vaccines to be a common good,” Weinberg said.
