The categories of vulnerable groups of workers were determined, according to a Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD) of the Minister of Labor Giannis Vroutsis and the Minister of Health Vassilis Kikilias, which was published in the Official Gazette.

Specifically, the following categories are included in the concept of vulnerable groups of employees of the private sector of the economy regarding the consequences of the transmission of COVID-19 for the application of the provisions of article eight of the Legislative Content Law ( A ‘161) of 22.8.2020:

1.1. High risk people

1.1.1. People with solid organ transplants receiving two or more immunosuppressive drugs.

1.1.2. People who have had a bone marrow transplant in the last year or are taking two or more immunosuppressive medications.

1.1.3. People diagnosed with cancer who are undergoing chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or immunotherapy.

1.1.4. People with hematologic malignancies (leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma) who are undergoing chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or immunotherapy.

1.1.5. People with severe lung disease (cystic fibrosis, severe asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease – COPD, patients undergoing permanent oxygen therapy for other respiratory conditions), who present the following or equivalent symptoms: 2 with asymptomatic symptoms in the last year, despite maximum treatment (with β-stimulator and inhaled corticosteroids), COPD patients who are on home oxygen therapy or have had 2 exacerbations in the last year and / or hospitalization.

1.1.6. Individuals with hereditary immunodeficiency or sickle cell or multinuclear disease (one or more transfusions per month).

1.1.7. People taking high doses of corticosteroids or two or more immunosuppressive medications.

1.1.8. Pregnant women.

1.1.9. People with HIV infection and CD4≤200 / μL.

1.1.10. People with severe heart disease or people with chronic cardiovascular disease, who present the following symptoms: left ventricular ejection fraction: <40%, active myocardial ischemia, over-moderate stenosis or insufficiency of the mitral or aortic, renal, pulmonary valves, histological cardiac surgery (before the trimester), as well as cardiomyopathies or symptoms of other cardiovascular diseases of equal severity.

1.1.11. People with end-stage kidney disease who are on extrarenal dialysis.

1.2. Intermediate risk individuals

1.2.1. People over 65 years of age.

1.2.2. People with unregulated diabetes, as shown by the following indicative values: HbA1c in the last 3 months: ≥8.0% or MO blood glucose values ​​≥200 mg / dl in the last 7 days and patients with micro / macro complications vascular or symptoms of equal severity.

1.2.3. People with chronic lung disease (asthma, COPD, emphysema) who do not fall within the definition of severe lung disease in paragraph 1.1.5.

1.2.4. People with severe neurological / neuromuscular disorders (severe Parkinson’s disease, motor neuron disease, multiple sclerosis being treated, cerebral palsy).

1.2.5. People with severe liver failure (uncompensated cirrhosis).

1.2.6. People with a high body mass index (BMI> 40).

1.2.7. Individuals with persistent hypertension, despite maximal treatment.

1.2.8. People receiving chronic low doses of corticosteroids or immunosuppressive drugs.

1.2.9. People with a transplant or a diagnosis of neoplastic disease in the last five years, which are not included in the terms of paragraph 1.1.1-1.1.4.

When a person meets more than one criterion in the intermediate risk category, they are automatically considered to be in the high risk group.

Required documents

The certification that the employee belongs to a high or intermediate risk group is carried out with a reasoned opinion:

(a) by the treating physician of the relevant specialty; or

b) by a doctor of the pertinent specialty of the sanitary structure (public or private) for the cases of special therapeutic methods, such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy.

This opinion must specify the employee’s involvement in one of the above cases.
