Pulmonology professor Theodoros Vasilakopoulos spoke with SKAI about the opening of retail and AstraZeneca vaccines.
Mr. Vasilakopoulos stressed that he was one of the supporters of the opening of the retail trade, however he wanted to clarify that epidemiologically it is not possible to speak of openness.
“We are not in a position to ‘open’ anything across the country.” When we say ‘open’ we are giving the wrong message, “he said.
The opening “experiment” should be performed where there is stabilization in the cases, explained the professor.
As he pointed out, the reason for the inter-municipal movements is that, anyway, people gather in the squares on weekends, to dilute.
“The more we dilute, the lower the transmission of the virus.”
Regarding AstraZeneca vaccines, Mr. Vasilakopoulos said that people can go and get vaccinated without fear.
He even explained that these rare cases of vaccine-associated thrombosis can occur from the coronavirus, but even from injections of anticoagulants performed in hospitals as treatment.
“If I have a coronavirus, I have a 5-30% chance of developing a thrombosis from the disease itself. Hospitalized patients are often given blood thinners to prevent blood clots.” Injections alone can cause this syndrome rare described in AstraZeneca “.
He also said that two studies are currently underway combining doses of different vaccines.
