He managed to recover from the serious injuries of the accident and a few months later (February 2019) he managed to be present – even formally – at the mobilizations of farmers in Nice as an ordinary farmer, having left a little before the president of EO .PEDIR.
Who was Vangelis Boutas?
Vangelis Boutas was born in 1954 in the Diocese of Karditsa.
Existed as a farmer cotton grower cfor most of his professional career, while in recent years he has taken a “turn” and engaged Wine production having also built a Small Winery.
He became known to the general public for his long-term trade union activity, being also president of the Trade Union Federation of Agricultural Associations of Karditsa (EOAS.K.) and member of the secretariat of the Panagrotiki Agonikos Cooperation (PASY).
In addition to its involvement with the primary sector and union action actively participated with the public serving as Mitropolis community president, Karditsa prefecture councilor, and Thessaly regional councilor.
For years he was a member of the Central Committee of the KKE, while he was also a Member of Parliament for Karditsa with the same party twice. He was elected for the first time with the KKE in the 1996 elections and was re-elected in the first elections of May 2012. In the elections of 2000, 2004, 2007, 2009, June 2012, January 2015 and September 2015 it was new candidate, but without being elected.
Until the last moment, he maintained the simplicity and stubbornness that he possessed as a human being, earning the respect of friends and political “opponents”. He fought many battles, some on unequal terms, but he won most, leaving his own mark on the history of our country.

“The Central Committee of the KKE with deep sadness Farewell to Comrade Vangelis Boutas, member of the Central Committee and the Department of Agrarian Policy of the Central Committee and trade unionist of the agrarian movement, who died today after tough battle against cancer and suffered a serious work accident.
Comrade Vangelis was there iconic shape of the agrarian movement of our country, authentic, popular, modest, pioneer and fighter.
All his life and journey, from his youth, was characterized by its pioneering action for the ideals and objectives of the KKE for the abolition of human exploitation by man, with a significant contribution to the organization of the struggles of the small and medium peasantry, enjoying the wide recognition and appreciation of fellow farmers, in general on the part of the people of the plain of Thessaly, but and the whole country.
Comrade Vangelis was born in 1954 in the diocese of Karditsa, to parents who were farmers and activists of the popular movement. His father was organized in the dictatorial EDA, while his mother had gone through the guerrillas, along with four of his brothers, one of whom was assassinated in 1948.
From a very young age he worked in the fields, while developing an important activity in the agricultural associations in his area. In November 1977, he organized into the KNE and the KKE, taking up many responsible party positions in the Thessaly organizations and in the agricultural trade union movement. In 1980 he was elected a member of the Karditsa Prefectural Committee as well as its Office, in 1983 in the Thessaly Region Committee until 1990 and then in the Thessaly Coordinating Body until 1994.
In the difficult years, 1989-1991, after the counterrevolutionary uprisings in the countries of socialism and the internal struggle of the party in the KKE, Comrade Vangelis gave you the battledefending the revolutionary character of the Party, the principles and the ideology of Marxism-Leninism, against the attempt to dissolve it from opportunism. At the crucial XIII Congress of the KKE, in February 1991, he was elected a member of the Central Committee of the Party, to which he has been re-elected to this day.
He was a deputy for Karditsa of the Party in the four years 1996-2000, while he was also elected in the May 2012 elections. He participated in the KKE ballots in numerous electoral, parliamentary battles, European elections and in the Municipal and Regional Administration.
Still in rural movement and associations in his area, SV Boutas has been President of the Educational Association of his village, member of the Board of Directors of the Village Agricultural Association and Secretary of the Federation of Agricultural Associations of Karditsa. He was President and Vice President of the Karditsa Cooperative Association, member of the Board of Trustees and Secretary of GESASE. He was also President of the Diocesan Community from 1987 to 1993.
Comrade Vangelis’s contribution to reconstruction of the agrarian movement, in their fight in the anticapitalist – antitrust sense, the strengthening of the social alliance of the peasants with the workers and self-employed in the city. He contributed decisively to the creation of PASY, the great struggles of the Nice Bloc and the formation of the Panhellenic Coordination of the Blocks.
With his action for a better life for the small and medium peasantry that is drowning in debt, selling even below cost and a part is cleared, but also his attitude, his popularity and his love for his area. , inspired the younger generations of peasant fighters and trade unionists in struggle. He honored, until the end of his life, the status of member and executive of the KKE.
The Central Committee extends its condolences to his entire family, to his wife Christina, to his children and grandchildren.
