Some people fear an unknown side effect that can happen especially to them and be fatal. Still others, new stars of the socialist biosphere who have been forgotten for a long time, seek through posts to gain more and more “advertising rooms” but also a large number of followers in the new Anendotus.
Others are waiting to see how many will die in the coming months to decide whether to cross the threshold of the “vaccine”, while many are still convinced that the substance of the vaccines that will coil in them and activate the mechanisms of protection against the virus, it can cause irreparable damage.
Always in those cases of great dilemmas, there are people who make the decisive decisions and join the millions of “agnostics” in all the countries of the world, simply because it rained last night.
Is there a medicine for my doctor?
However, most doctors, both in European countries and Greece, urge people to go without fear to get vaccinated to save humanity. Doctors and scientists, wherever and wherever they are, as they are constantly asked, make some basic points. They say that there is currently no effective drug for coronavirus and if it is effective for some it is not for everyone.
The vaccine was not made in a hurry, but was prepared in the necessary time using all the existing knowledge in the fields of genetics, infectious diseases and epidemiology with the help of all modern technological tools and inventive ideas that they arose from the “grip” of thousands of minds around the world. And it is the vaccine that acts in a similar way to previous vaccines that were developed to treat specific diseases with epidemic spread.
It has been tested in different variants in tens of thousands of people living in different countries, in different climates, with different lifestyles, diets, cultures, etc. Since the final tests showed that it was successful and protected the human body from the virus, the vaccine – regardless of the company or scientific institution that made it – is the only weapon, with room for future development and improvement, that it can stop the spread, inactivating in human society those pockets it draws on and ultimately destroys. That is us.
How common is common sense?
But while some things seem simple, for thousands of people common sense is not so common and the reaction becomes collective and morphs into stubborn denial. In Greece but also in advanced Europe. A recent survey has some interesting findings.
In France, therefore, only four out of 10 people want to be vaccinated, according to a poll published Tuesday, which declared France a “world champion” among “opposition” countries, ahead of Russia and South Africa.
In France, where the vaccination campaign has just started, 40% of those surveyed by Ipsos Global Advisor and the World Economic Forum said they would agree to get vaccinated against Covid-19. This percentage seems small compared to the respective surveys of October (54%) and August (59%).
The other countries
France is not the only country where the percentage of people who want to be vaccinated remains relatively low. According to the survey, only 43% of Russians and 53% of South Africans answered yes to the question. It is followed by Japan (60%), Italy and Spain (62%) and Germany (65%).
In contrast, 80% of Chinese say they want the vaccine, as do 78% of Brazilians and 77% of British.
Keep in mind that the United States, where the gigantic campaign to vaccinate the population has also started, is the only country where the “intention” to get vaccinated has risen to 69% today, from 64% in October.
Because they are not convinced
The main reason cited by those who say they have doubts about the vaccine is that they fear side effects (80% in South Korea, 76% in Japan, 72% in France). The second reason is that they are not convinced of its effectiveness. There are those who say that they do not feel threatened by Covid-19.
Only in fourth place are those who say they generally oppose vaccines (26% in Russia, 23% in South Africa, 14% in France, only 9% in China, 8% in Japan and 7% in South Korea.
Back in Greece, coronavirus deniers and vaccinators printed and distributed posters and brochures in various areas of central Thessaloniki. The brochure says “I will not receive the vaccine for covid-19.” And furthermore, “in 8 months a new virus was discovered, a vaccine was found, it went into production, they had refrigerators ready, it was distributed all over the world, it became mandatory – blackmail”.
The first “secondary song”
For several days now, many scientists have been saying that someone who makes one of the available coronavirus vaccines may develop a side effect that is transient and not life-threatening. Such a mild allergic reaction to a 32-year-old specialist doctor at the “Attikon” hospital was also observed on the first day of vaccination against the coronavirus in Greece. It was described as “not serious” by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Mario Themistocleous.
The chairman of the Attica Hospital Infections Committee, Spyros Pournaras, referring to the allergic incident, stressed that “there was an allergic reaction, these things happen. The girl showed a tachycardia and is now fine. “There is no cause for concern, these are everyday phenomena.”
Mr Pournaras noted that the severe allergic reactions that have been observed are “measured on the fingers”, while the mild ones are more, as is the case with many medicines, vaccines and foods.
Mr. Sypsas’s plan
The defender of vaccination is the doctor – infectious disease, professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Athens, Nikos Sypsas. Sometimes the laxity of the measures against the pandemic has burned but never his words about the vaccine. According to him, if the ideal vaccination plan is implemented, then next Christmas, we will be completely different. In particular, it says that the first round of vaccinations, which concerns health personnel, can be completed by the end of January. Then the next step is the elderly living in nursing homes and vulnerable groups.
The second stage is scheduled until April, but depends on attendance, explained the professor. “If all goes well and we run at record speeds, the majority of the general population will be vaccinated in July.” “The most realistic goal, however, is for 70% of the population to be vaccinated by September. If 70% are vaccinated, the other 30% are protected. So the pandemic in Greece is over. The virus will not find people to infect. From June to the end of the year is the period in which we will achieve it. “
Who and why
The president of the National Vaccination Committee, Maria Theodoridou, goes directly to the heart of the matter and the justified fear felt by older people, who also suffer from a disease and take a lot of medication.
According to her, the first criterion is “the highest risk of disease”, that is, people with “old age”, since this is the “number one risk of serious disease”.
The second criterion is “increased risk of exposure to the virus” and the main group “those who are exposed to the virus and are seriously threatened by it are health professionals”. “When the prioritization began, we thought about the acceptance of the vaccine by the health authorities. Health workers are both the example and the beacon for the rest of vaccination. With great satisfaction already from the first number of people who have been vaccinated, we can say that there is a wide acceptance of the vaccine against Covid-19 by health professionals ”, said Ms Theodoridou.
Ready for any side effect
Regarding concerns expressed regarding the possibility of an allergic reaction to the vaccine, Maria Theodoridou noted that they are extremely rare, noting that common allergic reactions (such as to food) are not a contraindication to vaccination.
At the same time, he stressed that in every vaccination center there is the necessary preparation for the immediate treatment of any allergic reaction, mild or even more serious.
The only solution
The professor of Pulmonology Theodoros Vasilakopoulos on the occasion of vaccinations against the coronavirus who began to talk about the vaccine presenting it as the only solution to return to normality, highlighting that only vaccines can treat infectious diseases.
Mr. Vasilakopoulos emphasized that the issue of the epidemic is not over yet and that we must be a little patient but also pay special attention. Commenting, and here you are very interested, on whether there is a drug at this time against the coronavirus, he replied:
“There is no medicine. There are some monoclonal antibodies that can be administered to humans when they contract the virus and reduce the amount of virus in their respiratory tract at 7 and 11 days. I am not saying that they are useless drugs, but they are drugs whose availability is There are currently 26 million active cases. Next year we will not be able to take many more doses and these drugs are not enough. The only solution is the vaccine, it is the only solution that exists for infectious diseases. “Science helped solve the problem much earlier than we expected. “
