US President Donald Trump has announced that he is nominating Amy Connie Barrett to fill her vacancy. the late Ruth Binder Ginsberg in the Supreme Court of the United States.

“This is my third appointment (for the Supreme Court) and it is a wonderful moment,” Trump said from the White House.

“Tonight, I have the honor of appointing one of the most brilliant and talented lawyers in the country to the Supreme Court,” he added, emphasizing his “unshakable faith” in the Constitution.

“You’ll be fantastic,” he told Barrett, who sided with the Republican president.

The 45th president of the United States predicted a “swift” approval of Barrett’s candidacy by the Senate, where Republicans have the majority.

“I love America and I love the Constitution of the United States,” Barrett said in a brief statement, paying tribute to Ruth Binder Ginsberg.

Ms. Barrett, a 48-year-old Catholic, was appointed by Trump to the 7th United States Court of Appeals in Chicago in 2017 and is known for her conservative religious views. It is recalled that the judges of the Supreme Court have a term of life.

In his first reaction, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden asked the United States Senate not to approve Barrett’s position before the November elections.

The justices of the Supreme Court are chosen by the President of the United States, but their appointment must be approved by the Senate.

If Ms. Barrett fills the vacancy on the Supreme Court, the Conservative justices will have a majority of six to three.
