His process is evolving into an endless thriller. American elections, with the vote count down the stretch and the scenario of being a winner in the next few hours, if all goes well in some crucial states, to gather enough chances.
Joe Biden maintains his leadership, although with difficulty, but Donald Trump is one step away, affirming, although with fewer possibilities, his re-election.
According to the latest data, the Democratic candidate, who has 253 voters and needs another 17 to become the next resident of the White House, maintains the leadership in Arizona and Nevada. If you can “block” these two states, you will reach the required “magic” number of 270 voters.
On the other hand, the Republican candidate has not said his last word, mostly in legal terms, as his team has already appealed to stop counting in several states, but suffered a judicial defeat in Michigan and Georgia, where the request was rejected.
We do not yet know the outcome of the elections in the following states:
- Pennsylvania (20 voters)
- Georgia (16 voters)
- Arizona (11 voters)
- Nevada (6 voters)
- North Carolina (15 voters)
- Alaska (3 voters)
How the count unfolds
According to the latest data, at 00:00 (Greek time), at PennsylvaniaWith 92% of the votes counted, Trump leads with 50.1% to 48.6%, according to pollster Edison Research. Some 370,000 votes remain to be counted, all of them epistolary. In fact, local authorities hope to complete the count in the next few hours.
In Georgia, Trump leads, but Biden has narrowed the gap to 13,000 votes (49.5% versus 49.2% with 98% counted). Local authorities estimate that the final result will be known later today and announced that they will hold a press conference.
In Arizona, Biden leads with 50.5%, compared to Trump’s 48.1%, a difference of just 68,000 votes, with 86% of the votes counted. The Fox network and the Associated Press are already giving Biden the winner, however, other outlets are waiting to see how the count will play out, which will probably not be completed tomorrow.
In Nevada 89% of the votes have been counted. Biden leads with 49.4% to 48.5%, a difference of less than 11,500 votes.
In North CarolinaWith 95% of the votes counted, Trump has a 77,000 vote advantage, 50% against Biden’s 48.6%. However, voting letters that have been sent no later than the day of the elections (November 3) are also accepted in this state, if they reach the hands of the authorities within 9 days.
Finally, in Alaska, with 56% of the votes counted, Trump leads with 62.9% against Biden with 33%, with a difference of 52.00 votes.
Pennsylvania and Georgia announce results
“It looks like we’re going to count the vast majority of the ballots today,” Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Bukvar told CNN Thursday night.
“I think there are about 550,000 votes left, which is expected to be counted today.” Some have already been counted, but they have not been uploaded, “he continued.
Donald Trump’s lead in Pennsylvania is shrinking, CNN notes, while based on the incorporation of 92% of the vote so far, the Republican president is 1.5 points ahead of the Democratic candidate.
In the event that Joe Biden prevails in Pennsylvania, which has 20 voters, then it is not ruled out that there is a safe estimate for the new president of the United States tonight.
In Georgia, which has 16 voters, about 61,000 votes remain to be incorporated, and for now Trump’s advantage is marginal with fewer than 13,000 votes.
“Through the Trump campaign, they keep saying they have attorneys in both states. We know that the president has called the Republican governor here, as well as the Republican in Pennsylvania.” They’re doing math at the White House and Trump headquarters. ” said the CNN correspondent.
As for Arizona, Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs said there are between 400,000 and 450,000 outstanding ballots that have not been counted statewide, and only 300,000 of those are in Maricopa County, the largest county. of the state.
Hobbs told CNN that he expects most of them to be counted by the weekend. “I think tomorrow we will have a much clearer picture of how Arizona is moving.”
Trump’s judicial defeat in Michigan and Georgia
Previously, Donald Trump’s campaign request to stop the vote counting in Michigan was rejected, based on a court order.
Judge Cynthia Stevens made the decision during a court hearing Thursday. It said it plans to issue a written decision on Friday. Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson even called Trump’s appeal “trivial.” According to her, all votes were counted safely and accurately.
In addition, according to local media, Georgia Judge James Bass dismissed the appeal and noted that there was no indication of mismanagement in the vote counting by officials.
Trump insists on the accusations
True to the line from the start, Donald Trump has threatened further legal action against the results of the presidential elections in some states, denouncing, without any evidence, voter fraud in states where Joe Biden appears to prevail.
“We will take legal action against voter fraud in all recent states that Biden announced that he won,” he wrote in a tweet, without mentioning specific states or cases that constitute electoral fraud for him.
All the states recently claimed by Biden will be legally challenged by us for voter fraud and state election fraud. Many tests, just check the media. WE WILL WIN! America First!

His remarks to reporters shortly thereafter moved in the same direction, expressing his confidence that he and his vice presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, will be the winners of the US elections. In fact, he asked for the patience of his followers to complete the process.
“The senator and I continue to feel very good. We have no doubt that when the count is complete, Harris and I will be the winners. So I ask you to remain calm, all people must remain calm. The process is ongoing, the count is complete and we will find out very soon. “Thank you all for your patience, but the votes must be counted,” he said.
I spent the afternoon attending briefings on the current COVID-19 crisis and the state of the economy. Tune in as I provide an update on these reports and efforts to count every vote. pic.twitter.com/duoDWfzf5C

The possibility of a tie
However, even after counting the votes of the electorate, there is another possible scenario, according to which there can be no winner.
If neither candidate achieves a majority of the electorate or both candidates obtain 269 votes, this triggers the scenario of new elections, based on the 12th amendment to the Constitution. Then it is up to the House of Representatives to decide who will win the election, while the Senate chooses the vice president, with each state delegation receiving one vote.
To date, Republicans control Congress with 26 of the 50 state delegations, while Democrats control 22. One group of representatives consists of an equal number of Democratic-Republican members, while the latter has seven Democrats, six Republicans and a liberal.
However, a possible electoral dispute in Congress, according to Sputnik, must be resolved within the strict deadline of January 20, when the Constitution stipulates that the term of the current president expires.
If Congress is not victorious (either president or vice president), then House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, currently a Democrat from California, would serve as vice president.
