Disputes with Navtex the Greek jurisdiction of Crete NA
At the same time, with the well-known practice of Navtex, Turkey continues, showing that nothing has changed with the arrival of the new year and… it continues the challenges from where it left off in 2020.
Specifically, with the new issued Navtex, it disputes the jurisdiction of the Greek hydrographic authorities, this time indeed for the maritime areas southeast of Crete.
The Turkish Navtex came after the Heraklion hydroelectric power station issued the relevant instructions for the Greek Armed Forces aeronautical exercises.
Ankara “responded” with two consecutive Navtexs and, more specifically, the Antalya Hydrographic Station claims that it has responsibility in the specific maritime area, thus relaying the information and data from the Greek air exercises.

It is recalled that a few days ago the Turkish Defense Minister, Hulusi Akar, had declared that the Greek authorities had announced dozens of Navtex in three months, something that “is nothing more than harassment and is also extremely contrary to good neighborly relations” . .
Then he added that “we want this to be known and understood by our interlocutors. When we say good neighborliness, it means that we must keep our relationship on a logical and rational level. “This must be understood, so we ask our neighbors to be reasonable again.”
