Turkish press: if you dare, do not withdraw the soldiers from the islands

In the Turkish press we see headlines that set a different tone in relation to the Turkish government’s line that the tones are falling on the Turkish side.

Yesterday, there was a statement from Mr. Petsas on SKAI TV that said that there is no case for Greece to discuss the demilitarization of the islands and today the Sozcu newspaper has a cover and refers to this issue, writing if they do not dare to withdraw to the soldiers of his islands, the Greek declared that he would not withdraw his troops from the islands.

The important thing is that in Turkey it is on the agenda and this issue did not exist. This rhetoric was only in the official opposition.

At the same time, there were reports in Hurriyet that the Souda base was being upgraded. There is probably a plan by the Greek leadership to make a large naval base to Aksaz standards (off Rhodes) and this newspaper comments on this with a lengthy article and says that Greece again does not rest on Crete in response to Akaz who claims that Mr. Floros has ordered the improvement of the port of Souda. The goal of Greece is to have two large fleets, one in the Aegean and the other in the Mediterranean.
