The confession of a Turkish soccer player that he killed his 5-year-old son in the hospital where the boy was being treated is shocking.

Jevcher Toktas of Boursha Gildirimspor went to a police station in Bursa and confessed to killing his son, 11 days after authorities attributed the boy’s death to respiratory problems without suspecting it.

On April 23, Toctas, who had previously played in the Super League, the first division of the football league in Turkey, took his son to the hospital. The boy had a high fever and a cough. Doctors immediately put a father and son in quarantine, as the 5-year-old boy showed symptoms of coronavirus.

Later that day, Toktas called the doctors in the room and told them that the boy was having difficulty breathing. They took him to the intensive care unit, but within 2 hours the boy was finished, according to local media quoted by Daily Sabah.

Eleven days later, Toctas went to the local police station and confessed that he had killed his son. In her statement to the police, she described how she suffocated the boy, with a pillow, when he was left alone in the hospital room.

“I pressed a pillow on my son, who was lying on his back. For 15 minutes, I pressed the pillow without lifting it. My son was fighting. When he stopped moving, I took the pillow. Then I called the doctors to dispel my suspicions,” he said. , describing the murder.

When asked about his motive, he said that he killed his son because he did not love him. “I have never loved my son since he was born. I don’t know why I didn’t love him. That was the only reason I killed him that day. I have no psychological problem,” said the footballer. Toktas was arrested and faces life in prison, and authorities ordered the exhumation of his son for an autopsy.
