Turkey’s anger and threats over US sanctions: “They will boomerang”

The US sanctions against Turkey for its purchase of Russian S-400 missile defense systems will cause a boomerang effect and damage ties between the two NATO allies, a senior Turkish official said today.

Citing four sources, including the two US officials, Reuters previously reported that Washington was ready to impose sanctions on Ankara for the S-400s.

“The sanctions will not work but they will be counterproductive.” They will damage relations, “the official said.

“Turkey is in favor of solving these problems through diplomacy and negotiations.” We will not accept unilateral impositions, “he said.
