The European Council reaffirms its conclusions of 2 October 2020 and strongly condemns Turkey’s new provocative and unilateral actions in the Eastern Mediterranean, including recent investigative activities.
The EU calls on Turkey to work consistently and systematically to reduce tensions and stresses that it will continue to closely monitor the issue.
In particular, it is observed:
“The European Council reaffirms the conclusions of 2 October 2020 and strongly condemns Turkey’s new unilateral and provocative actions in the eastern Mediterranean, including recent investigative activities. The European Council calls on Turkey to respect Resolutions 550 and 789 of the UN Security Council, highlights the importance of the Varosha regime and reiterates its full solidarity with Greece and Cyprus.
The European Council calls on Turkey to reverse these actions and work to reduce tensions in a consistent and systematic way. It will continue to closely monitor the issue to follow up on its October 2, 2020 findings. “
