The president of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance, Alexis Tsipras, spoke about a triple crisis in our country that generates a general feeling of insecurity among citizens, expressing his concern about a very difficult autumn.
Speaking in Kontra’s main newsletter, Mr. Tsipras characteristically noted that “even in the era of memos and economic asphyxia, the feeling of insecurity of Greek citizens was not as widespread.”
Specifically, Tsipras spoke of “a health crisis that, instead of mitigating, is intensifying”, “an economic crisis that is the result of the government’s inability to manage its effects”, as well as “a security crisis”. in our region, a great tension in Greek-Turkish relations, with the fear that the government will move there without a compass ”.
Economy or health?

The big mistakes, the NSS and the schools
Speaking in particular about the “big mistakes” that were made, he stated the following:
- The opening of tourism without a plan, without a single health protocol.

Once again, the former prime minister stressed that there was no substantial strengthening of the National Health System, while the conditions were not created to open schools with the least possible conditions of overcrowding.
“So in our schools this year, in the elementary schools, we will have more students per class in the vast majority of our schools, at the time we have the pandemic … Why did this increase occur? Because obviously their logic is not to hire teachers, their logic is not to increase but to reduce the number of substitutes and obviously when the number of teachers is reduced to achieve balance, the number of students in the room must be increased. This is the truth ”, continued the SYRIZA president in the same style.
Finally, he recalled that the official opposition demanded from the beginning of the crisis, advanced measures, in order to reduce the recession, which, however, were not taken by the government in time. At the same time, he called her “even now” to intervene with the fire brigade and deal with problems, since otherwise there will be thousands of households that will run out of budget, unemployment will rise again, which has already risen, very high. In other words, we will be in a winter of social hell.
