In interviews over the weekend, Dendias said that a key condition for resuming exploration “is that Turkey shows that it wants a constructive dialogue under international law, as a permanent option, not as a flag of opportunity.”

“We will not be caught by pretentious movements. This position, after the position of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was adopted by the recent European Council,” he stressed, noting that the expansion of the agenda that Ankara wants will not be accepted.

For his part, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said yesterday that “those who threaten Ankara with sanctions will eventually be disappointed.”

In a video message about the inauguration of the highway, the Turkish president said that his country “will never hesitate to exercise its sovereign rights,” according to the Anadolu news agency.

“They tried to deal with Turkey by any means, such as terrorist organizations, coup attempts, political and economic pitfalls, sanctions,” he added, adding that “so far they have not succeeded.”

The Turkish president noted that Turkey can cooperate with those who treat it with respect and justice. “We leave the door open for those who are ready to sit down and speak with us on fair terms,” ​​he said.
