The Democratic Candidate for President of the United States Joe biden maintains his leadership over the Republican president Donald trump in the state of Michigan, while in North Carolina they fight hand-to-hand, according to a Reuters and Ipsos poll. The survey asks potential voters from the six critical and ambiguous states (Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, Florida, and Arizona) who will play a key role in determining the winner of the presidential election.
Analytically:
- In the Michigan, Biden leads with 51%, compared to 44% for Trump. Last week their percentages were 51% and 43% respectively. 28% of those surveyed said they had already voted.
- In North Carolina, Biden is 49% (48% last week) vs. Trump’s 46% (47% in the previous poll). However, this difference is within the statistical margin of error. 18% have already voted.
- In Pennsylvania Trump has reduced the gap to 45% versus 49% for Biden. Last week, Biden was ahead at 51% to Trump’s 44%. 15% have already voted.
- In the Wisconsin Biden leads Trump by 51% to 43%, extending his lead by one point from last week. Almost one in four voters (24%) has already voted.
- In Florida the difference has narrowed to 2 points (within statistical error), with Biden leading by 49% versus Trump’s 47%. 17% have already voted.
- In Arizona, Biden increased his percentage by two points, to 50% compared to 46% for Trump. 10% have already voted.
Voters in all states said they thought Biden would be better at handling the pandemic and Trump better at handling the economy.
The survey is conducted online in all six states, English and Spanish (Florida and Arizona). The statistical margin of error is 4 units.
