The outgoing US president is applauded for the comment by the attorney general and so far one of Donald Trump’s closest associates that he found no “fraud” to such an extent as to justify canceling Joe Biden’s victory.
“At this stage, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could change the outcome of the election,” Bill Barr said in an interview with the Associated Press. .
Last month, Barr urged federal prosecutors to investigate credible allegations of voter fraud, but cautioned that investigations into “fantasies and hype” should be avoided.
“There have been complaints of systematic fraud, according to which the machines were programmed to give erroneous results,” the minister recalled. But the Ministries of National Security and Justice “investigated and, for the moment, they found nothing to verify them,” he added.
With one foot out?
Bill Barr was seen in the White House on Tuesday, and many commentators speculate that he will leave the government.
On Sunday, Trump accused the Justice Department and federal police of not helping him prove the fraud. “They are ignored,” he told Fox News.
“There is a growing trend to use the judiciary as a tool to solve all problems and when people are unhappy with something, they wait for the Department of Justice to come and investigate,” Barr said.
