Lockdown – Cases Today: EODY announced on Wednesday an explosive increase in the number of fatal coronavirus cases, with the four-digit number leading the government to further emergency measures with the universal lockdown scenario back on the “table”
Specifically, EODY announced 1,547 new cases of the virus in the country, of which 419 are in Attica, τα 384 in Thessaloniki, while the number is three digits in Serres, where they were located 158.
Extraordinary meeting of specialists in infectious diseases – Towards the closure of Thessaloniki and Larissa
To stop the course of the virus, which appears to be a difficult case, the Committee on Infectious Diseases is meeting today to decide on new measures in areas where there is an “explosion” of cases.
Specifically, the committee is discussing the possibility of suggesting that Thessaloniki and Larissa go to level 4 “red” (higher risk). EODY President Panagiotis Arkoumaneas is also due in Thessaloniki on Thursday.
However, according to MEGA, apart from the two areas, a closure for Rodopi will probably be announced tomorrow.
In addition, according to the same source, infectious disease specialists they may suggest the strengthening of the restrictions in force in the areas of level 3 “orange” (increased vigilance).
Attica is also in the “orange”, where 419 new cases of coronavirus were reported today.
The new measures that are on the “table” and the generalized confinement
Yesterday’s impact of 1,200 cases was followed today by a new impact, when he broke the 1,500 barrier. After all, there are many experts who these days emphasized that if Greece exceeds 2,000 cases a day, then we are going full speed towards a new blockade. After today’s number, 2,000 cases is not such a distant scenario.
Closing two weeks after the implementation of the latest measures announced in a message from Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the State will decide to expand or harden them.
So based on the information, if things get worse, before enforcing the universal lockdown the next measures the government is considering are:
- Prohibition of traffic outside the prefecture. It is not yet clear how it will be implemented, although it already applies to prefectures that are at alarm level 4. It is not allowed to move from one prefecture to another in these areas. Specifically, it is not allowed to leave Kozani and Kastoria prefectures, which are in red.
- Padlock in focus. On the table is the Paris-type measure, that is, to close the restaurants after 9 pm.
- In the immediate future, the cessation (prohibition) of traffic will be deemed to have been made before 00:30. This is a measure that has already been proposed to the Committee on Infectious Diseases.
- Increase telework
