The six detained foreigners, accused of setting fire to the Moria camp, numbered six. Her action is revealed in a video-documentary, which sees the light of day.
The migrants are apparently lighting scattered bonfires in many different locations, with the aim of spreading the fire immediately throughout the camp. One of them even holds cardboard boxes and lights them to carry the fire from one place to another.
According to information, this video was included in the ELAS investigation to identify the perpetrators of the arson, which set the entire camp on fire and left 12,000 migrants on the street.
As the arsonists were made known, they are people of Afghan origin entirely. All four are 19-20 years old and the other two are 17 years old., who were arrested after the issuance of an arrest warrant by the Prosecutor’s Office Of Mytilene, in Katerini and Salonika, where they had been transported with 204 other unaccompanied refugees, given the destruction of the camp.
The arrest of the accused was known today by the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, who, in his statements from Mytilene, characteristically expressed: “Moria’s arsonists are in custody. They are five young people, foreigners. Looking for another. The police worked methodically, putting an end to unfounded scenarios and cases. All kinds of extremists were refuted again. The state is reconstituting itself. Show every day that you are here with rigor, sensitivity, legitimacy and humanity. Both immigrants and residents have an interest in accepting our proposals and the reality of the new structure. One thing is for sure: Lesbos can’t stand other slogans, they want seriousness and solid management. I assure you that logic and legality, safety, health and normal life will prevail.».
He congratulated, for the success of the arrest, the executives of ELAS in Lesbos and specifically of the Sub-Directorate of Security of Mytilene.
The cameras have recorded the movements of the group of six and thus the work of the Authorities was easier. In fact, one of the minors, as can be seen from the authorities’ material, appears, as the police say, to have “burned half of Moria …”. After confirming their involvement in the arson, the two minors were located and detained in the structure that housed them and where they had been transferred for humanitarian reasons the day after the accident.
