Erdogan launched an attack on Greece in his remarks after the cabinet meeting.
Specifically, it stated: “To support our independence we have the opportunity to use both our diplomacy and our military power. That is why they respect us. In the last days in the eastern Mediterranean and the Aegean, without taking an example from history, they are trying to create and violate the Turkey’s rights. However, in the end they will accept this truth. Those who stand tall in Turkey endanger the safety and well-being of their people. I am clear, when the time comes I hope they will not pay a high price.
“Instead of sitting at the negotiating table with us, they are making thugs with their disintegrated military forces, I leave you the story, I tell you to take a good look at our diplomatic and military operations during the last 4 years.”
Turkish provocation on the Mitsotakis-Macron meeting agenda
At the same time, French President Emanuel Macron will discuss the European Union’s tense relationship with Turkey this week with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the French presidency announced.
The two leaders will attend the European Southern Summit (MED7) on September 10 in Corsica.
The leaders of Portugal, Spain, Italy, Cyprus and Malta will also be present.
