Scenes from China and other countries reminded me of the creation of a mobile hospital in the parking lot of the 424th General Military Training Hospital (GSNE) in Thessaloniki.
The portable hospital consists of tents and containers, while it was used in Afghanistan when a part of the Greek army was sent there. This unit will accept patients without coronavirus.
According to the information, “taking into account the special conditions that have been created in Thessaloniki since the spread of the coronavirus strain” Covid-19 “, by decision of the Political and Military Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff is developing 300 KYMEA (Mobile Emergency Medical Unit) in the courtyard of the General Hospital for Military Instruction 424 (GSNE) “.
From Thursday you can accept patients
The appropriate configuration that has been requested is expected to be completed next Thursday, so that it can accept, if necessary, patients, in order to save space for “Covid-19” patients within the main hospital.
The 300 KYMEA will have fifty hospital beds and a Radiology Laboratory, necessary for the diagnosis of the effects of the disease on the thorax.
It is clarified that the Mobile Emergency Unit does not have an Intensive Care Unit.
After consulting with the Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos, the Deputy Minister of National Defense Mr. Alkiviadis Stefanis, who will be heading to Thessaloniki, will be informed tomorrow, Monday, November 23, about the progress of the configuration works of 300 KYMEAs.
