Greek police are looking for the fingerprints of the 14-year-old, who allegedly confessed to the fatal wound of an 86-year-old man, in Thessaloniki.
According to information from Voria, the administration of the Papafeio orphanage, where the 14-year-old was staying with his 12-year-old sister, who allegedly also confessed, immediately announced his disappearance.
However, in a statement, it indicates that upon the arrival of the 14-year-old minor, “the officials and the administration of the orphanage had expressed strong objections, since the minor did not meet the conditions to be admitted to it for various reasons.”
In fact, in the same announcement, the Papafeio government claims that the authorities did not even report that the 14-year-old is accused of participation in robbery and murder.
Due to measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus, the orphanage administration placed him in a special area, separate from the rooms where the other children are staying, but a few hours later it was found that the minor had disappeared.
The 14-year-old was familiar with the orphanage facilities since, as Papafeio’s administration reveals, he had been housed again in the past. He had also gone before.
Specifically, according to a Papafeio source who spoke with Voria.gr, the 14-year-old was transferred to the orphanage on October 20, following an order from the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
The administration of the institution even then had expressed its objections to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, saying that the 14-year-old had to go to another structure since Papafeio does not have a penitentiary nature, nor does it have the necessary security personnel for such cases. “Five days later, the young man left the institution, unfortunately confirming the validity of the objections of the Papafeio administration.”
Since then, the 14-year-old was considered “disappeared” until the day before yesterday, Thursday, when he was arrested.
In its announcement, the administration of the institution indicates that “Papafeio is an Orphanage, which welcomes underage children who wish to live in it, and not an idiosyncratic” Special Center for Juvenile Detention “, where there is a mandatory inclusion infrastructure” .
At the same time, it expresses its deepest condolences to the 87-year-old’s relatives, but also hope “for the rapid location of the minor and the proper treatment of his case by the Thessaloniki Juvenile Prosecution Service.
It is recalled that the two brothers, aged only 12 and 14, are accused of breaking into the house in Thessaloniki to rob the old man, while their grandparents played the role of smokers. Then they took about 200 euros from him and disappeared.
The old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries to the entire body, as the two teenagers hit him on the head and body, causing a brain hemorrhage.
The Thessaloniki security police began collecting material from the security cameras of the house and, together with the testimonies of the locals, managed to reach the two juvenile delinquents.
According to information, the two minors confessed and described their invasion of the victim’s home. They were arrested in Ano Poli.
