The “stool” in the schools, after the lifting of its suspension on March 11, was carried out today by high school students, under strict protection measures such as thermometers, diagonal arrangement of desks, separate breaks, signs on the patios and up to 15 students per class.

The entrance to the school was with the necessary thermometer, with the students standing in front of a camera and their temperature showing on the computer.

Entering and leaving the school grounds.

To reduce congestion during the arrival and dismissal of students to school, the regular meeting in the courtyard is not held prior to the start of the program. Students will go directly to their classroom. In addition, signs are posted in the yard about where each student should stand, maintaining the necessary safe distance.

Fifteen students per room, with open windows.

Now, by the end of the current school year, the maximum number of students allowed per class is fifteen (15) and the distance between students sitting at desks must be 1.5 meters. Classrooms are divided into two and students will go to school in rotation. Monday – Wednesday – Friday will be half way and Tuesday – Thursday the other half, while next week it will be the other way around. Small sections (up to 15 people) will be able to operate daily.

According to the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos, 66% of the departments of the third GEL secondary school will teach daily and not in rotation, because these departments have less than 15 students and there is no need to divide the departments. The corresponding percentage of the departments of the 3rd EPAL high school is 74%.

Regarding the arrangement of the corridors, the relevant circular stipulates that the desks will have a common orientation, in order to minimize the exposure of students to droplets from coughing or sneezing, especially in rooms with limited space.

Students will sit one by one at the desk and alternately on the left and right sides of the desk, not one behind the other.

Of course, the ventilation of the classrooms will be carried out and it is planned to clean them twice a day.

Separate at breaks

From today until the end of the school year, the school break will be different. Students will not take a single break to reduce interaction between sections / subtypes. The image of the students who enter the patio is a thing of the past, since there is a gradual exit and, in turn, each class will have a different space in the patio.

Ball games (for example, volleyball, basketball, soccer) are prohibited and dining rooms will be closed.

Antiseptics, the use of a mask is optional.

School cleaning will be meticulous starting today, while schools have been “equipped” with antiseptics. According to the president of KEDE and the mayor of Trikala, Dimitris Papastergiou, there was no problem in the supply of antiseptics, since, apart from the first mission of the Ministry of Education, most of the municipalities were already equipped with antiseptics. During the week, a second shipment of antiseptics from the ministry to the municipalities is planned.

As a result, each school has been thoroughly cleaned, while cleaners will be present at the school during lessons.

As for the use of a mask by the students, this is optional in the classrooms and on the students’ means of transportation.

Teachers Association meetings

School principals may invite members of the Teachers Association to a meeting in a location that meets the distance requirements for teachers, even if this requires moving the Association meeting to a different location than the one used usually for for this purpose

The presence of high school teachers in their schools next week, before the principal determines the resumption of operation of the high school, based on administrative needs.

EODY protocol for cases

To manage any symptoms that occur in a member of the school community, the relevant EODY protocol will be activated, based on the monitoring process and with qualifications depending on each case. It is not planned to close the school in case of an accident.

Absences of students and teachers.

As already announced by the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos, there is a provision of leave for teachers who fall into the category of special leave, while the special leave will continue in the public and private sector for parents with children in educational structures that remain in suspension. . .

There is also the possibility of countless absences for students who have a special reason (based on a parent / guardian statement about the existence of a vulnerable group in the home as defined by the Commission, or in the case of a person sick).

For those students who have a special reason to be absent from school, a live stream of the course is offered through e-learning. However, educational federations have voiced opposition to the live broadcast of a course, citing personal data protection issues.

Finally, for the days when the students will not be at school, there is a plan to study at home.

Next week, Monday, May 18, students from A ‘and B’ middle and high schools will follow. Elementary and kindergarten students are likely to return to school on June 1, but that will depend on epidemiological data in the coming days. The ministry has made it clear that municipal gardens and kindergartens will reopen “only if there is certainty that the course of the epidemic is going downhill.”

It is also recalled that secondary schools and lyceums will teach until June 12, there will be no promotion and graduation exams (the evaluation of the students will be based on the grades of the four months) and on June 15 and 16 Panhellenic exams will be held for general lyceums and vocational secondary schools, respectively. For Special Schools, the suspension of the operation has been extended.
