The promoted provisions discussed with the Rectors and POSDEP move along three axes: a) the establishment of a Special Protection Team of the University Foundation (OPPI), b) the establishment of structures and the expansion of security measures in the university, including controlled entry to HEIs, and c) strengthening the provisions of disciplinary and criminal law.

Ms. Kerameos stated: “Our concern was and continues to be the protection of academic freedom, ensuring the free movement of ideas, teaching and research without hindrance. Cooperation is required, as well as the observance of an attitude of responsibility for part of all those involved. State, rectories, university personnel and students must work together for free, safe, modern, extroverted universities, away from morbid phenomena that have no place in academia. “

A special body is created

A Special Corps of trained police officers is formed under the name of the “University Foundation Protection Team” that will guard the buildings and facilities of the university, will have preliminary investigation functions and will make arrests if crimes are committed.

The policemen of the new Corps, according to information, will be hired after an announcement by the Ministry of Civil Protection, according to the standards of the announcement for the recruitment of 1500 special police guards and the members of the Corps will be assigned by the Ministry of Protection Civil. in universities. Their number will change by University but also by period depending on the needs of the moment.

The preferred plan is that the surveillance of the Universities is carried out with an entrance card and in the case of large plains that are public transit parks that remain open and the surveillance with the entrance with an entrance card to the buildings. At the same time, the plan includes enhancing the lighting of the university campus.

The new Corps will wear a uniform, according to the same information, in order to be visible in the University facilities, however it will be different from the uniforms of the other policemen, possibly with a difference in color, as is preferred until now.
