Two historical monuments, the temple of hephaestus and the Philopappos monument acquired new lighting, with his signature Eleftherias Deko and was donated by the Onassis Foundation.
The Temple of Hephaestus in the Ancient Agora of Athens and the Philopappos monument are two important landmarks of the city. The two monuments are illuminated with the same philosophy and technology that was implemented in Sacred Rock of the Acropolis.
The new study, in addition to the aesthetic interventions, focused on the improvement of the existing technical infrastructure, by modernizing the electrical / lighting installation and the automation and control system of the luminaires, ensuring energy savings, minimum maintenance costs and avoiding light pollution.
“It is very important that the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in the midst of the pandemic, can offer residents and visitors of Athens, but also from all over the world, an improved image of the Sacred Rock, the Ancient Agora and the hill of Philopappos.
As happened in the Holy Rock and the monuments in it, and in the case of the monuments of the Volcano and Philopappos, the third dimension is emphasized through the differentiation of intensities and shadows, while the new luminaires are friendly with the environment as they offer significant energy savings.
Once again, I will reiterate that the image of the Acropolis is the image of the country and that the alliance of the public with the private sector can offer our country and the cultural heritage, in a very short time, innovative models and projects that contribute to improve the image of Greece around the world, “said the Minister of Culture and Sports, Mr. Lina Mendoni.
