Kyriakos Mitsotakis presented the works for the construction of a new fence in Evros on the Greek-Turkish border, with the aim of strengthening the sense of security of the inhabitants of the area.
The new 26-kilometer-long fence and the upgrade of older 10-kilometer sections “is the least we can do for border security and for the citizens of Evros to feel safer,” said the prime minister of Feres, where was informed about progress in the execution of construction work.
“It just came to our knowledge then. The first part of the fence could not be alone, but because there was the Police, the Army, the border guards, the Hebrews.” They kept the mentality of the homeland very high, “he added.
The project will be completed in April 2021, with the creation of the fence to contribute to the protection of the sovereign rights of the country and the protection against flooding of areas near the Evros River that suffer great damage every time it floods.
“The fence is not a border. It is an obstacle to the invasion. In the following presentation, the necessary information is given about the obstacle raised by GREECE and EUROPE so that no one can relive the events of March 2020,” says the Ministry of Civil protection.
The characteristics of the fence
The new fence will consist of a strong metal railing made of steel 5 meters high, and together they are building earthworks to maintain, improve and build new roads for the maintenance and maintenance of artificial barriers along the river.
At the same time, the existing fence will be reinforced with the incorporation in Greece of a strong continuous metal railing, also made of steel, with a total height of 4.3 meters.
In combination, eight new elevated anti-ballistic observatories will be built along the artificial barriers, for use by the Greek army, and improvement works will be carried out on 57 existing infrastructures (outposts / observatories), including construction and repairs and electromechanical improvements.
