As Corfu prosecutor Dionysios Lampridis told APE-MPE, “the case has been sent to the police authorities and is being carried out in the context of the spontaneous procedure.”
The police report
He protothema.gr revealed the content of the report compiled by the police found in the church of Corfu and the impressive thing is that even they do not know that the representatives of the municipal authority managed to enter the church, since all the doors were closed.
Specifically, the report indicates that all four entrances to the Temple were closed and that no faithful could enter. The Divine Liturgy for Palm Sunday was already taking place inside, while the police patrolled the perimeter of the church to prevent the arrival of the faithful and more people. Until the end of the Divine Liturgy at 11:30 there was no meeting of believers outside the Temple.
“At the end of the Divine Liturgy, in contact with the commissioner of the church, Mr. Boura Spyridon, informed us that within the church during the Divine Liturgy, the Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxos Islands and Diapontia was with two priests and four others for the procession of the Holy Tabernacle inside the Temple. We were also told that there were three young girls and himself as commissioner, as well as four people from two television crews. He also informed us that towards the end of the service, the Mayor of Central Corfu and the Diapontian Islands, Mr. Meropi Hydraiou, and the President of the Municipal Council, Mr. Metallinos Dimitrios, entered the Temple, probably not from the four doors supervised by men from our service, the report says.
