The 52-year-old woman heads towards her murder Lisa Montgomery, since the appeal against the postponement of the execution of the last sentences was rejected by the competent Court of Appeal. Montgomery is the last inmate sentenced to death in the United States and her execution will be a historic milestone, as it will be the first in 70 years for a “federal” convict. The corresponding previous case was yours Bonnie Heidi, in 1953. In the meantime, there have been many other executions of women which, however, due to the American penal system that differs between states, were recorded as local.

Lisa Montgomery was sentenced to death in 2007 when she was acquitted without parole of an unimaginably heinous and barbaric crime. In December 2004, Montgomery strangled her. Bobby Joe Stinet, 23 in Missouri. Stinet was in an advanced state of pregnancy. Montgomery sliced open Stinet’s belly with a kitchen knife and pulled out the fetus. He intended to take it away and present it as the fruit of his own womb.

The defense lawyers have not stopped arguing that Lisa Montgomery suffers from a severe mental disorder and, therefore, should be pardoned by the courts. Attorneys have extensively described how Montgomery’s character was shaped by the sexual and physical abuse she suffered as a child.

A psychiatrist referred to a rare mental illness, which he called “Illusion of falsehood». Based on the diagnosis, Montgomery was absolutely convinced that she was pregnant, felt all the side effects on her body, and acted like she was actually pregnant. Therefore, when he committed the crime, he had no knowledge of the fact and its consequences. The court rejected the psychiatrist’s theory, calling it “voodoo science.”

For his part, Donald Trump, who was defended in a last attempt to cancel the execution, refused to pardon Lisa Montgomery. And so, Trump will go down in history as the president of the United States with the most executions during his term.

Lisa Montgomery was to be killed by an injection of poison at an Indiana penitentiary last December. At the moment the new – and definitive, like all sample – date of its execution is unknown.
