The moment of the truth has come. The shipment to the 27 member states of the EU of the first batches of vaccines departed yesterday from Belgium and tomorrow they arrive in Greece, so that the first vaccines begin in our country from Sunday, December 27. These will be done gradually, while during the first phase of Operation “Libertad”, our country will receive 28.3 million quotas.

Specifically, the European Commission announced yesterday that the first doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine have been prepared and distributed to the 27 countries of the EU.

“After carefully packaging the doses of the recently approved coronavirus vaccines, they went to the 27 countries of the European Union,” the commission said on Twitter today, citing a video.

With the arrival of the first doses in Greece, the national “Eleftheria” vaccination plan is implemented. According to the planning that has been carried out, our country will be supplied with more than 28 million doses of vaccine, gradually until the end of 2021.

Tomorrow, Saturday, December 26, 9,750 doses are expected to arrive, so that the implementation of the program can begin the following day, December 27, with the vaccination of the country’s political and state leadership, as well as 250 health, symbolically.

The largest volume of vaccine supply is expected to take place in the first quarter of the new year, with the aim of vaccinating the most vulnerable groups of the population by June.

How to make an appointment

Pharmacies, KEP and two digital channels will allow citizens to make appointments to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

As reported by the Minister of Digital Government, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the citizen, based on the prioritization that will be announced, will have the opportunity to reserve the 2 appointments for the vaccine doses (with a specific time and date) of the following shapes:

– After connecting with the TAXIS data on the website http://emvolio.gov.gr

– Confirmation of the proposed appointment by text message (SMS) in the 5-digit code for exclusive use (13034).

– For citizens who are not familiar with technological means, visiting the KEP or pharmacies.

The citizen will receive the unique code-number of the appointment, as well as the QR Code, depending on the way the appointment is scheduled. It is observed that by dating app, repeat vaccination is planned at the same time.

There will be confirmation of appointments but also the possibility of change, while it is not excluded that other ways are added so that citizens can make appointments.

A mechanism is also being designed so that one can join prioritization regardless of whether you have an AMKA.

Vaccination

Citizens can check if they belong to any of the priority groups in the following ways:

– Entering the AMKA and its Name on the website http://emvolio.gov.gr and the web / mobile application.

– Sending a text message (SMS) to the 5-digit code for exclusive use (13034).

Appointment reminder

Three days before the date of the appointment, the citizen will receive an email and SMS reminder of the day and time of the appointment along with a link to the website that has the appropriate general preparation instructions (for example, have no fever , have the code, etc.), but also specific instructions depending on the vaccine to be used.

Vaccination

The Citizen delivers the appointment code or the QR Code and the identifying element (identity card, passport, etc.) to the personnel of the Vaccination Centers. The staff, using the appointment app on the tablets, will scan the QR code or search based on the code: they will number the appointment and confirm it.

Subsequently, the questionnaire prior to the required vaccination will be answered, which will include both general and specific questions depending on the vaccine to be administered. Based on the answers to the questions, and after the doctor evaluates the clinical picture, decides whether to proceed with the vaccination and prescribes.

Likewise, the Vaccination Center enters the details of the vaccine packaging in the electronic application, which was used for the Citizen’s vaccination. In this way, the traceability and pharmacovigilance process is enhanced. If necessary, the application informs the doctor about the date and time of the recurrence.
