Data from the World Health Organization on the global pandemic remains tragic, with a record number of cases and deaths recorded in the last week.
In the previous seven days, 4,060,891 infections and 67,221 deaths were registered. By comparison, last week, the World Health Organization recorded 3,977,223 cases and 59,699 deaths.
Despite the dramatic data, the WHO notes that the pandemic is showing a relative slowdown in Europe and Southeast Asia, while in North and South America the situation remains tragic.
In Africa, although the total number of cases is considered relatively low compared to other regions, at least according to official figures, this continent saw the highest increase in both infections (+ 15%) and deaths (+ 30%) up to here.
Most of the infections diagnosed worldwide between November 16 and 22 were found in Europe (1.7 million, more than 32,600 deaths).
The situation is also very difficult in North and South America (1.6 million cases, 22,000 deaths in the same period).
In Asia, the number of people infected in the last seven days was around 351,000, while deaths increased by 4,700.
The United States registered more than 1.1 million cases, India more than 281,000, Italy almost 236,000, Brazil more than 209,000, France more than 171,000, Russia more than 163,000.
The pandemic was also spreading rapidly in Poland (more than 152,000 infections), the United Kingdom (149,000+), Germany (127,000+) and Iran (91,000+) over the past seven days, according to the Organization.
