According to information from Voria.gr, the Greek police are looking for the fingerprints of the 14-year-old gypsy who, along with his 12-year-old sister, are accused of fatally wounding an 87-year-old man.
The disappearance of the minor raises questions about the treatment received after his arrest.
According to EL.AS. The two minors invaded the 87-year-old man’s home in Thessaloniki on December 2 and seriously injured him in their attempt to rob him. The unfortunate old man was transferred to the Hippocratic Hospital where he died four days later.
Yesterday, Thursday, the authorities investigated the case, arresting the two minors and their 45-year-old grandmother as accomplices, along with her 40-year-old partner. The 14-year-old was led by EL.AS at 1 a.m. on Friday. at the Papafeio orphanage, following a relevant order from the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office. However, a few hours later, before dawn, the minor left Papafeio and has been wanted ever since.
Serious complaints from Papafeio
The Papafeio administration immediately announced his disappearance. However, in a statement, it indicates that upon the arrival of the 14-year-old minor, “the officials and the administration of the orphanage had expressed strong objections, since the minor did not meet the conditions to be admitted to it for various reasons.” In fact, in the same announcement, the Papafeio government claims that the authorities did not even report that the 14-year-old is accused of participation in robbery and murder.
Due to measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus and because there was no certainty that the 14-year-old had undergone a covid test, the orphanage administration placed him in a special area, separate from the rooms where he was held. the other children are staying. However, a few hours later it was learned that the minor had disappeared.
I had left the orphanage again
The 14-year-old was familiar with the orphanage facilities since, as Papafeio’s administration reveals, he had been staying there in the recent past and had left the institution even then. Specifically, according to a Papafeio source cited by Voria.gr, the 14-year-old was transferred to the orphanage on October 20, by order of the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office.
The administration of the institution even then had expressed its objections to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office, saying that the 14-year-old had to go to another structure since Papafeio does not have a penitentiary nature, nor does it have the necessary security personnel for such cases. “Five days later, the young man left the institution, unfortunately confirming the validity of the objections of the Papafeio administration.” Since then, the 14-year-old was considered “disappeared” until the day before yesterday, Thursday, when he was arrested.
In its announcement, the administration of the institution indicates that “Papafeio is an Orphanage, which welcomes underage children who wish to live in it, and not an idiosyncratic” Special Center for Juvenile Detention “, where there is a mandatory inclusion infrastructure” . At the same time, it expresses its deepest condolences to the 87-year-old’s relatives, but also hope “for the rapid location of the minor and the proper treatment of his case by the Thessaloniki Juvenile Prosecution Service.
