The government’s intention to make announcements about its pandemic every Friday coronavirus and the measures to be taken were announced by the government spokesperson Christos Tarantilis.
«However, the pandemic is a dynamic phenomenon, not a static one, and decisions to address it cannot be linear. We are closely monitoring the data and proceeding on the basis of expert recommendations, step by step with the aim of protecting public health and human life. The Committee of Scientists will meet every Friday to make its recommendations and then the Vice Minister of Civil Protection, Mr. N. Hardalia, will announce the government’s decisions for the next period.Mr. Tarantilis said characteristically.
“The epidemiological situation in our country has improved compared to the beginning of December. “There is a reduction in active cases and pressure on the health system,” added the government spokesman.
For vaccination
Regarding them vaccinations for the coronavirus with a view to the initiation of proceedings for those over 85 years of age Tarantilis recalled that there are three ways available:
- First: Those who are registered in the intangible prescription will receive a relevant message and all they have to do is confirm the appointment. That is why it is very important to encourage and help parents and family to register immediately.
- The second way is by entering the emvolio.gov.gr platform, where the citizen with the use of his AMKA will be able to see if he is in the groups that are going to be vaccinated and if he is he will be able to make an appointment.
- The third way refers to our fellow citizens who are not familiar with digital technology and will be able to make an appointment both in pharmacies and in Citizen Service Centers.
It is noted that so far vaccination in our country is progressing at a satisfactory rate, with method, security and transparency. “Until yesterday, 44,620 vaccinations had been carried out, that is, 0.42% of the population, while the world average is 0.31%,” added the government spokesman.
However, he remembered that “In January, according to the agreement concluded by the European Commission with the companies Pfizer and Moderna and according to the planned distribution (proportional to the population), Greece will receive 424,624 doses, that is, 212,312 vaccines.. And these amounts will increase significantly in the next period. After all, it is well known that Greece has locked in, in the European context, the doses that correspond to it and reach the vaccination of some 15 million citizens.
Message in Turkey
The government spokesman also referred to the presentation in Parliament – and at the beginning of the debate on Tuesday – of the bill for the expansion of the coastal zone towards the West.
“This is a historic decision, as Greece extends its territorial waters in this area to 12 nautical miles and expands, for the first time since 1947, the area of its territory. It is emphasized, and of utmost importance, that Article 1 (2) of the bill refers verbatim: “The Hellenic Republic reserves the right to exercise its respective rights in the other regions of its Territory, as derived from the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of December 10, 1982, which reflects customary international law” . added Mr. Tarantilis.
On the occasion of the vote within the week of the bill that approves the purchase of a squadron of 18 (12 used and 6 new) French “Rafale” combat aircraftThe government spokesman noted that “this is another step in the direction announced by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis last September in Thessaloniki, for the immediate strengthening of our Armed Forces.”
“It is recalled that the first six of these aircraft will arrive in our country six months after the signing of the Convention”, concluded Mr. Tarantilis.
For the economy
The Government, using the confidence that our national economy has recovered, assured in 2020, with historically low interest rates, the necessary resources to support companies and workers in the affected sectors, the unemployed, owners, borrowers, as well such as the transport, tourism, culture and sports sectors. It has already allocated 24,000 million euros for this purpose and is willing to allocate another 7,500 million by 2021.
Thus, the special purpose compensations, the “Co-Work” program, the “Puente” program, the suspensions of tax obligations and home and business insurance and the successive cycles of amortization of the advance continue.
It should be noted that since last Tuesday the 5th cycle of Refundable Advance has been activated, half of which – as in the previous cycle – is non-refundable, provided that the same level of employment is maintained until June 30. The total amount of this cycle reaches 1,500 million euros, a fact that raises the total direct support of the State to companies -especially small and medium-sized ones- through the five cycles of the Refundable Advance, up to 7,000 million euros.
It is recalled that for the month of January the payment of rents for retail trade, restoration, tourism, culture, sports, transportation, hairdressers, beauty salons, bookstores and shops that remain closed with a state mandate. 80% of the monthly rent will be reimbursed to the owners from the State Budget and thus the rental cost is distributed 80% to the State and 20% to the owner.
