When will the new measure take effect?
Everything changes in the coffee market as of January 1, 2022, an environmental tax will be imposed on plastic cups and their lids.
The fee is 0.05 euros and will be charged separately for the glass or container and its lid.
While, those who do not want to pay the fee, the law requires cafeterias and food stores to serve the customer in the reusable utensils that they bring.
The same law provides for the abolition of the sale of disposable plastics by stores in less than a year from today (July 3, 2021). Disposable products include silverware, plates, straws, disposable candles, plastic swabs, and even plastic balloon holders.
Finally, starting in 2023, companies that sell water and soft drinks through stores must create a package return system where the customer will receive money for the packages they return or a discount for their next purchases.
