Sypsas: New measures even tomorrow – Data portend storm – Society

The alarm of the image that has been formed in recent days in Attica in the midst of the pandemic sounded again on the morning of Wednesday 9/23 by the professor of Infectious Diseases Nikos Sypsas. The data “heralds a storm,” he said, speaking to ANT1 and the “Good Morning Greece” program, stating that “perhaps tomorrow, if we see a new outbreak of the epidemic, we can take new measures.

“We are in what we call the ‘orange’ phase of the epidemic. This means that the next step is “red”, the so-called blocking. “But instead of discussing how close the closure is, it is better to discuss what we must do as citizens to avoid closure, which is much more important,” he said, speaking with ANT1.

“The government and the state have taken measures, whose return we expect during the next ten days. “Unfortunately, the measures we take for the pandemic do not have an immediate effect,” he said, noting that “every day can be a day in which we have to make decisions.”

He appealed to citizens to comply with the measures and repeated the four conditions set by the experts: distances, mask, wash hands, avoid crowds.

“We all have to realize that we are in a very difficult phase in Attica. All the quality data is bad, not only in terms of the number of cases, but also in terms of intubation, imports, the coverage rate of the beds UCI. “This all portends a storm.”

Mr. Sypsas also spoke about the possibility of taking restrictive measures only in certain municipalities of Attica, noting, however, that such a thing is very difficult as they “communicate with each other”.

“The center is the biggest problem,” he said, adding that “we will see if it is possible to isolate a small area.” Otherwise, we will go to horizontal measures ”. “If the measures work, we will not have a blockade,” he emphasized.
