The municipality of Athens, using as far as possible the possibility offered by restrictions on the movement of pedestrians and vehicles due to the health crisis, intensifies interventions on the city’s road network in an effort to make it more friendly and , above all, safer for everyone.
In this context, in parallel with the extensive asphalt pavement, planned interventions for the maintenance of pedestrian crossings in the seven municipal communities are increasing, with emphasis on the roads around the Athens school complexes.
195 crossings on 70 roads
People from the Department of Highway Construction, Sewer and Commonwealth have recently made 195 cross-border crossings on approximately 70 city streets, and in mid-May there will be multiple rounds exclusively around school complexes that remain closed.
The maintenance of the lines is carried out with the new work protocol that provides the possibility of interventions on the road network both at night and during the day, strictly observing the strictest safety specifications for employees of the Municipality of Athens.
