Supermarkets will close at 8:30 pm starting Monday and will not open on Sunday, Deputy Development Minister N. Papathanasis told ERT.
At the moment, the flow is normal and there is enough, there is no reason for them to open on Sunday, Papathanasis said.
He clarified that today and tomorrow they will operate until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday normally until 8:00 p.m.
What products cannot be sold locked up
The Joint Ministerial Decision was published with the list of products that supermarkets are prohibited from selling until November 30, 2020.
With respect to items whose sale is prohibited in grocery stores (for example, supermarkets, convenience stores, bakeries, butchers, fishmongers), pharmacies, and auto repair shops, with the exception of electronic commerce, the decision establishes the following: Codes of activity numbers:
a) Retail sale of computers, peripherals and software in specialized stores / KAD 47.41,
b) retail sale of telecommunications equipment in specialized stores / KAD 47.42,
c) retail sale of audio and video equipment in specialized stores / KAD 47.43,
d) retail sale of textiles in specialized stores / KAD 47.51,
e) retail sale of carpets, rugs and floor and wall coverings in specialized stores / KAD 47.53, f) retail sale of electrical appliances in specialized stores / KAD 47.54,
g) retail sale of furniture, lighting and other household items in specialized stores, excluding spare parts (for example, light bulbs), retail sale of sweepers for cleaning the home (KAD 47.59.58.35), as well such as retail brooms and household cleaning brushes (KAD 47.59.58.37) / KAD 47.59,
h) retail sale of books in specialized establishments / KAD 47.61,
i) retail sale of toys of all kinds in specialized stores / KAD 47.65,
j) retail sale of clothing in specialized stores, with the exception of tights (KAD 47.71.71.43) / KAD 47.71 and
k) retail trade of footwear and leather goods in specialized stores / KAD 47.72
In this context, the sale of the following products by supermarkets is prohibited:
- Games
- Clothes (excluding stockings)
- Furniture, lighting, and other household items (except replacement parts, such as light bulbs, sweepers, brooms, and household cleaning brushes)
- Household electrical appliances
- Audio and video equipment
- Telecommunications equipment
- Computers, computer peripherals and software
- Footwear and leather goods
- Textiles
- Carpets, rugs and floor and wall coverings
- books
Hardals: The new measures announced
The Vice Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management announced this Wednesday afternoon new restrictive measures to limit the transmission of the coronavirus. Nikos Hardals.

Telecommuting
For teleworking, as of Friday, every public and private sector organization must have a report that documents the operation with the absolutely necessary personnel and employees who have been placed in a teleworking state.
“Controls for the implementation of teleworking and other protective measures in the workplace have already been significantly intensified by the mixed levels of the Labor Inspection and the National Transparency Authority and will continue unabated in the near future,” said the Mr. Hardals.
“We encourage and recommend television stations to adapt to these measures, reducing the much needed number of presenters and guests in the studio,” he said.
