The explosion in the center of Madrid killed at least two people and injured eight, according to the first aid service in the Spanish capital.
The powerful explosion caused the collapse of part of the building and the start of a fire inside, the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, told reporters. According to the first data, the explosion is due to a gas leak.
According to the first information, there have been numerous damages to homes and cars, while the elderly from the nursing home have been removed by the Municipal and National Police. The explosion caused significant damage to the building itself, but also to three neighboring buildings.
The three upper floors of the building have been completely destroyed, as can be seen in the images, while the causes of the explosion are not exact so far, although the first data speak of a gas leak.
