An elderly woman, mourned by her relatives as a victim of Covid-19, returned to the nursing home where she lived, nine days after the authorities informed her family that her funeral had taken place.
They confused the name
Due to confusion with the grandmother’s name, Rogelia Blanco’s family was informed that the 85-year-old woman died on January 13 and was buried the next day, writes the newspaper La Voz de Galicia.
Due to restrictions, none of his family members were able to attend the funeral.
So when she returned healthy to the nursing home in the city of Hove, where her husband Ramón Blanco also lives, she caused a shock.
“I couldn’t believe it.” I cried over the death of my wife, “said the old man, explaining that the deceased was another old man with whom Rochelia shared the same room.
Moved to another place …
The San Rosedo Foundation, which runs the nursing home, said the error occurred when Blanco and other inmates tested positive for Covid-19 and were transferred to another nursing home on December 29.
“Among the elders transferred to Os Goth, Pereiro de Aguilar, there were two women who shared the same room.”
However, during their transfer, the authorities confused the names with the result that when the other woman died on January 13, they thought it was Rochelia.
The Foundation has apologized for the “unfortunate incident” and has already been requested by the judicial authorities to “resurrect” Rochelia Blanco alive on paper.
