I have repeatedly written that the liberal center-right space is not made up of a political herd led by its current leadership. Silence for reasons of partisan patriotism is unknown in this political space, because the only patriotism that exists is love of the country.
Therefore, by welcoming the positives, we highlight and criticize the negatives so they don’t recur. In the Center-Right zone there is no silence of the lambs.
I write all this because yesterday we witnessed an unprecedented, inappropriate incident in a fundamentally grave condition. The State Department signed a text with the United States Secretary of State in which the Prespa agreement is described as historic.
I cannot believe that there is a Greek politician or an official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who has considered the Prespa agreement “historic”. Or rather, he as an individual, can consider it as he wants, but from the moment he practices politics, he puts aside his personal point of view. It is drafted with the official position of the elected government it serves.
And the position of New Democracy, without a doubt, is that the Prespa agreement is a bad and harmful agreement for our country.
Period, dash.
This position was one of the central pillars of New Democracy’s opposition tactics in both the European elections and the 2019 national elections.
Therefore, with the signing of a text that considers this agreement “historic”, not only is a basic position of the party overturned, but at the same time SYRIZA is given a reasonable grip, which was mercilessly criticized for the agreement of Prespa and “paid” it – for speaking for “scammers”.
Naturally, the text was withdrawn and replaced by another, which was in line with the national line.
International resilience.
It does not occur to me – as I imagine it does in the minds of millions of Greek citizens – that those responsible signed a text of such importance without reading it. So what is left?
They read it and agreed with its content. Undermining the Prime Minister? Personal strategies? Demonstration of goodwill in the American agent? One worse than the other.
It is a real shame that the Foreign Ministry, which perfectly handled the agreement with Egypt on the EEZ, fell so significantly yesterday. We can’t seem to endure success, as one commenter aptly wrote.
It should be noted that this is the second time in a few days that we have become “mockery of losers.” The first was with the absence or abstention of New Democracy deputies due to the immunity of P. Polakis. This time the mistake was even more serious.
The first case was covered up and attributed to a misunderstanding. Without resignation. What will the government say today? Surveillance; Anyone who is bitter will laugh.
Intention; In this case, what will the consequences be and for whom? Really, the mistake this time is too big to cover.
