Snow and frost traffic ban in Trikala areas

Heavy snowfall, frost and low temperatures are the main characteristics of the weather in western Thessaly, since the beginning of the bad weather “Medea”, which has led to the ban on traffic on the roads from Saturday night. At the same time, the machines of the municipalities of both Regional Units are giving their own battle, due to the manifestation of meteorological phenomena. They are constantly adding salt and trying to keep the road network open.

More analytically, due to the adverse weather conditions that previously prevailed, it is known, with a relevant announcement from the General Directorate of Regional Police of Thessaly, that since Saturday night, at 10:00 p.m., the circulation of trucks with a gross weight greater than 3.5 tons and other heavy vehicles (buses, etc.) at the following points – areas of the Trikala Regional Unit:

-from km 28 of the Trikala-Ioannina national road (Mourgani crossing) to km 65 of the Trikala-Ioannina national road (Malakassi level crossing)

-from the first km of the Mourgani – Grevena national road (Mourgani crossing) to km 24 of the Mourgani – Grevena national road,

-on the Trikala – Karditsa national road in its entirety,

-from km 22 of the Trikala – Arta national road to km 75 of the Trikala – Arta national road (Alexiou Bridge) and

-From km 4 (Direction Pyli – Mesochora) to km 55 of the provincial highway Pyli – Mesochora.

The General Directorate of Regional Police of Thessaly also points out that it will constantly report on the conditions prevailing on the road network and recommends drivers to follow the instructions of the Traffic Police.
