Thus, from today and for the next two weeks at least those who move in the Attica region must wear masks in all workplaces, public and private, while their use will be mandatory in outdoor areas such as squares, where they cannot The distance of 1.5 meters is observed.
Attica is now between moderate and high epidemiological risk, showing 3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants daily. However, the reduction to 10 shows a very high risk and the authorities are concerned that the health system, which is already under pressure in Attica with around 60% of ICU beds for Covid and will be able to resist the virus, has started infecting people again. age in relation to the majority of cases registered in midsummer.
Measures
Yesterday, the Deputy Minister of Civil Protection and Crisis Management, Nikos Hardalias, announced six measures for Attica and at the same time addressed a strong recommendation to citizens over 65 for the widespread use of a mask, as well as to avoid public places and private high meeting, public services, DEKO. banks and public transport.

We make a strong recommendation to all of our fellow citizens in Attica to wear a mask in all other open spaces.

Likewise, 50% of the vendors by category of vendors will participate in public markets and there must be a distance of 3 meters between the stalls, while there is the possibility of parallel operation of the public market in the same area within the same week in as much as possible.
- A maximum of 6 people are seated at the tables in the health stores.

It is recalled that the measure for the operation of restaurants remains in effect until midnight.
More than 1,800 active cases in Attica
Regarding the current situation in the country, Mr. Hardalias stated that there are 4,089 active cases, which are isolated along with their contacts, of which 1,829 in Attica.
However, only yesterday 197 new cases were announced in a total of 310 new infections, a figure that is a negative record for the basin.
Since the beginning of the pandemic in our country, a total of 13,240 cases and 313 deaths related to Covid-19 have been registered.
At the entrance gates, since the opening of tourism on July 1, 1,093 cases have been identified, while 491,980 selective controls have been carried out on a total of 3,827,400 entrants.
“Social bubbles”
In the midst of growing concern about the course of the pandemic in our country, far removed from the image that the government has been celebrating for months, experts speak of new social habits beyond the already severely restrictive measures.
EKPA Associate Professor Gikas Majorkinis spoke yesterday about the “social bubble” phenomenon. Create “social bubbles”, limit our social circle during this period. To meet only with friends and acquaintances and we can meet them as many times as we want. “Live in these ‘social bubbles’ for a while until the vaccines come,” he said.
He warned that “the epidemic shows signs of resilience in the preventive measures taken against the coronavirus” and noted that equally worrisome is the fact that “the number of intubations is increasing and this growth trend in the last 2 weeks shows no signs of recovery “. .
Attica, as he said, which has 1/3 of the population, has been registering more than half of the cases that affect the entire country for several days. “Urban centers are the Achilles heel and are long-term incubators for the new virus,” Majorkinis said, explaining that only by reducing over-transmission between strangers can over-transmission be reduced and follow-up made easier.
Regarding the distribution by age of the cases registered in the last week, most of the cases are between 25 and 34 years old and “these are the peak of the epidemic today and then we have the age groups of 45 to 54 and 35 to 44, “said Mr. Majorgkinis.
