The final teleconference with the committee of experts for the opening of the schools will take place on Monday (08/31) at noon and on Tuesday, September 1, the final decisions will be announced.
Two committee members, who spoke today on SKAI TV and Giorgos Avtias, were in favor of starting classes on September 7.
In particular, the Nikos Sypsas He said his personal opinion and suggestion to the committee based on current data is to open the schools on September 7.
The same date is approved by Gargalian Panagiotis, provided that everything is ready, with masks and health protocols in schools and teacher training.
Both scientists, however, said that it does not matter much if one date or the other will be chosen, since in winter they may need to close again.
“7 or 14 offers us nothing. In winter we will see how they go,” said Mr. Gargalianos.
“Possibly in January, February, schools should be assessed if they can be open,” emphasized Mr. Sypsas.
Kerameans: We are ready – Schools will open safely
For her part, the Minister of Education, Niki Kerameos, assured that everything is ready for the opening of schools in a safe way and that all the measures suggested by the experts have been taken.
When asked if primary, secondary and high schools will open on the same date, Ms. Kerameos replied that the decision made is to open simultaneously at all levels.
