Schools will open, at least for high school students, starting Monday, May 11, according to the government’s plan to return to everyday life after the pandemic.

The second wave of students, for the other classes of the Lyceum and the Gymnasium, returns to the desks from May 18.

However, the return will be made in accordance with the specific measures established by the competent Ministry of Education. Initially, students will attend rotating classes, half on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and the rest on Tuesday and Thursday to have smaller classes, maximum 15 people, and maintain the required safety distances.

The plan provides in detail:

-During the first day of operation of the schools, printed and audiovisual material will be given instructions to principals, teachers, students and parents.

-On school buses, the use of a mask by students will be optional, while it will be mandatory for those who travel by public transport, as is the case with other citizens.

-In schools there will be antiseptics, natural ventilation will be carried out while cleaning is carried out twice a day.

-Different breaks are expected for students.

-The operation of the dining rooms is prohibited.

-The use of a mask in the rooms is optional.

-Uncountable absence possibility is provided for students who have a special reason based on the parent’s statement

-Distance learning will be done live for those students who have a reason to be absent from school.

-The ministry plan includes for students belonging to vulnerable vulnerable groups, the adoption of special measures with the possibility of examination in September, in case a candidate becomes ill with coronary heart disease during the exams.

Key dates for education

This year’s Panhellenic exams for most candidates, from the Lyceum General, begin on Monday, June 15.

On Friday June 26, exams will be completed in the basic courses, with Chemistry and the Principles of Theory of Economic Orientation.

The same dates will be considered for graduates from previous years who have chosen to be examined under the previous system.

The program for this year’s national exams begins, as always, with the modern Greek language of general education, according to the program of the Ministry of Education.

At the same time, students in vocational high schools begin on Tuesday, June 16 to complete exams on Tuesday, June 30 with specialty courses.
