The new Save-Autonomy program, from the Epirus and Ionian Islands regions, opens on Friday.

At 10:00 am on Friday, the platform will open for the submission of requests from specific regions, according to the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

The new program is expected to include 60,000 homes, while the amount of the subsidies amounts to 900 million euros. The turnover that will be generated is estimated at 1,500 million euros. Building energy improvements are estimated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 200,000 tons, while saving more than 900,000 Mwh of energy.

In addition to the program, which starts on Friday, the goal is to improve 170,000 homes in a period of three years, with a total budget of 3 billion euros.

The ultimate goal is to modernize 600,000 homes, equivalent to 15% of all buildings in the country, by 2030, in line with the goals set by the national energy and climate plan, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, during a teleconference for Save-Autonomy .

“Savings – Autonomous” provides for the expansion of eligible interventions and better incentives, said the secretary general. From Energy and Mineral Raw Materials, Alexandra Sdoukou, during the presentation.

The basic grant rate is 65% and depending on the income of each beneficiary it can go up to 95%. This includes a 10% incentive for owners of H and Z energy classes who will be able to upgrade their property’s energy class to at least B ‘, a separate 10% increase due to the pandemic and an additional 10% for municipalities in lignite areas.

Save-Autonomo will be one of the first projects to be funded by the Recovery Fund, Mr. Mitsotakis noted, adding that the program can then be extended to thousands of public buildings, which are very old.
