Speaking to SKAI and Giorgos Avtias, the director of the Iraklis research center and professor of Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Demosthenes Sarigiannis, spoke about the opening of schools at the end of January.
“Attica is not in danger of going ‘red’ immediately, but towards the end of January, when schools will open, there is a negative dynamic in Attica, while we also need to pay attention to the lights,” Sarigiannis explained.
“At Christmas and the next day we had a duplication of active contacts, we had a reduction in the implementation of the measures by at least 20% from December 24 to yesterday, we must be careful,” he said. Based on the above, “we expect an increase in cases, not dramatic, but we expect it,” clarified Mr. Sarigiannis.
He predicted that the third wave would arrive at the end of February. “It depends on how we do the opening, not on when,” the professor clarified.
Kapravelos: “Kikilias to see the third wave, otherwise disaster”
For his part, Nikolaos Kapravelos, director of the ICU at Papanikolaou Hospital, asked the Minister of Health through SKAI “to pay attention to the 3rd wave in every sense of the word”.
“The number of intubated and the fullness of the ICU is a parameter that concerns us all. “If the third wave arrives before the second wave ends, we will be talking about a great disaster,” he warned.
According to Mr. Kapravelos “if the NSS is not downloaded and the viral load for the partial lifting of the market does not fall, there is no room to play with human lives, we will have great losses”.
“Pay attention to the 3rd wave that we are all waiting for in February,” he stressed.
