Koronovios: The former Magnesia deputy of ND, Giannis Papageorgiou, passed away today, who was recently treated at the “Achillopouleio” Hospital in Volos after being diagnosed as positive for the coronavirus.
THE Giannis Papageorgiou was born in Volos in 1939 and studied at Faculty of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and then did postgraduate studies at the Universities of Montreal in Canada and London. Was obstetrician gynecologist and maintained a Clinic in Volos, which continues to function today as a Neurological Clinic, now under the direction of his son Nikolas.
He was the son of Magnesia deputy of the Liberal Party and later of the EPE Nikolaos Papageorgiou and in his course he was a member of the EPE Youth, he was president of Volos Olímpicos in 1975, while in 1978 he was elected municipal councilor of Volos. He was elected president of the Magnesia Medical Association and vice president of the Panhellenic Medical Association.
The deceased was director of the NSS at Lamia Hospital for many years and was elected deputy of Magnesia with New Democracy in 1989.
THE Deputy of Magnesia and parliamentary representative of ND, Christos Boukoros in his message with which he expresses his deepest condolences to the family of Giannis Papageorgiou mentions, among other things, the former Magnesia deputy:
“Giannis Papageorgiou served in his place with passion and selflessness. He served science as one of the most successful OB-GYNs in Volos. He served the party as a deputy and executive. He left his mark on the sport for decades as a footballer and president of Olympic Volos ”.
