Rosa Nera’s occupation, Polaki’s support and investments

Pavlos Polakis described the evacuation of the Crete Technical University building, which had been under occupation for 15 years, as “a vengeful reaction from a government power”, showing that the obstacles placed in the tender for its exploitation by the government of SYRIZA were not accidental.

As a result, investment has hung up in the air, Rosa Nera’s occupation has continued for a long time, and her evacuation is now characterized as a maneuver by a government that has “conservative reflections of civil war.”

SYRIZA has reacted to all the evacuations carried out by the current government. By supporting these groups, he believes that he maintains his left-wing profile, while at the same time trying to shape the narrative of the “right-wing” government that opposes society. But it had also supported the squatters as a government. Especially this one in the building located on the Kastelli hill in the old town of Chania.

It is characteristic that in June 2017 with the tender for the development of the building to be completed, the Ministry of Culture intervened once again and through the Modern Monuments of Crete service asked the Municipality of Chania not to issue a permit for any intervention in awaiting appointment decision. as a museum.

According to the rector at the time, this intervention caused delays, while in reality the Ministry of Culture appeared to protect the illegal occupations. It is worth noting that the complete archive with the documents of the Ministry of Culture that requested not to proceed with any intervention had not even gone to the Technical University of Crete.

This occupation was a kind of “legend” and a “banner” for the so-called “collectives” they usually occupy, raising questions about the attitude of the state in the past, as well as the way they operate and the income they earn. even from the “hospitality” of immigrants and refugees.

For SYRIZA, it seems that it was also a benchmark. The declaration of Pavlos Polakis, who has signed as a member of Parliament for Chania since:

– Blame the government for the evacuation.

– defends squatters and more or less portrays them as protectors of the weak.

– threatens the planned investment and calls on the people of Chania to react.

Specifically, it states that:

“Early this morning, strong police forces, with the blessing of the Mitsotakis government, proceeded to evacuate the ROSA NERA squat on the Kastelli hill in the old town of Chania.

No one falls from the clouds because of the expected retaliatory reaction of a government with a deeply antisocial structure and conservative civil war-like reflexes, as has been demonstrated many times in the recent past.

Three (3) things must be said forcefully right now, but must also be demanded en masse now:

When such a government, like that of ND, feels “squeezed” by the results of its policies (uncontrollable health crisis, galloping recession of 15% in the economy, national problems in a dangerous rebound), it tries to change the agenda by citing its old recipe. “Law and order against anarchy and anarchy”.

The demand now of the mass organizations, but also of each Hanioti that cares about the city, is to guarantee in every way the public character and free access for everyone in the area. The prevention of any attempt to turn the historic building and its surroundings into a private investment of a friend (or not) of the “Family” or of the parliamentarian Mr. Digalakis, who won so much in previous years in favor of the evacuation …

“Because the occupation, in addition to its socio-political activities, functioned all these years as a ‘housing occupation’ for the people who needed it, to immediately release the detainees who were inside this morning.”

With the occupation, the building belonging to the Technical University of Crete was named “Social Space”. The terminology used in the squatting of buildings regardless of whether they belong to the public or to individuals and covers the illegal occupation and “use” of a space with a supply mantle.

This also happened in Chania, where after the decision to use the building in question through private investment, Rosa Nera became a hotbed of “resistance” against investment.

This is how he was treated and is being treated by SYRIZA, as is clear from the reports of the local deputy who turns out to be Pavlos Polakis, a close associate of Alexis Tsipras and one of the forgers of the party’s opposition tactic in recent months.
