With just a few hours to go to the polls in the United States, Democratic candidate Joe Biden appears to have secured a narrow lead over outgoing President Donald Trump in Florida in the closing days of the election campaign. Arizona, according to a Reuters and Ipsos poll.
Last week, a Reuters / Ipsos poll showed the two candidates fighting each other in all three states.
The poll includes potential voters from six states (Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania) who are expected to play a crucial role in the election of a new US president.
The survey was conducted from October 27 to November 1 in all six states.
In Florida, Biden has 50% and Trump 46%. In the previous survey the difference was two points in favor of Biden (49-47%), but within the statistical error.
More than 4 in 10 (41%) responded that they had already voted.
In Arizona, Biden leads Trump by 49% to 47%, a margin within the margin of error. In the previous poll, the difference was also 2 points in favor of Biden, at 48-46%. Half of the voters (49%) have already voted.
In North Carolina, Biden leads Trump by 49% to 48%. 43% have already voted.
In Michigan, Biden increased the gap to 10 points (from 9 in the previous poll) and is ahead by 52% compared to 42% for Trump. 37% have already voted.
Ten points in favor of Biden (53-43%) is the difference between the two candidates in Wisconsin, with 41% of voters already exercising their right to vote.
In Pennsylvania, Biden has 51% (down from 50% in the previous poll) and Trump 44% (down from 45%). 25% have voted.
Across states, respondents said that Biden would be better at managing the pandemic and Trump would be better at managing the economy.
